The Story:
The St. Brendan's Cross stands tall on the Dingle Peninsula in Co. Kerry. According to legend, the cross was erected to commemorate the incredible adventures of St. Brendan. His iconic voyage, known as "The Voyage of Brendan the Navigator," gained widespread fame in medieval Europe and remains one of the greatest adventure stories of all time. The cross-slab, known as the Kilshannig standing stone, is a graceful and slender piece from the seventh century. With a finely engraved cross and double spirals at the base this piece has a touch of magic, just like the original magnificent cross-slab.
St. Brendan is the patron saint of boatmen, mariners and sailors.
